Sri Jayanta Sarkar ,a degree holder from Rabindra Bharati University has trained under Pt Ajay Chakraborty. He had a long stint in doordarshan as Programme Executive.He is also an A grade composer in All India Radio He is an established vocalist and composer.He was the music composer for Mahalaya in Doordarshan in the year 1992,1994,1996. Guruji has tirelessly strived to pass in the legacy to his disiples - the legacy of trying to absorb the essence of Hindusthani Classical Music and nurture it.Several young talents have risen to fame under his mentorship and tutelage. Besides being an exceptional Guru,he is an established vocalist and a composer in his own right.He has numerous composition to his credit,ranging from classical and semi classical, to devotional and light music.Several music personalities like Pdt.Ajay Chakraborty, Pdt. Arun Bhaduri,Bidushi Haimanti Shukla,Anup Jalota,Srikanta Acharya, Sriradha Bandopadhyay,Jayati Chakraborty , have rendered their voices to his soulful compositions.
