Lalitkala,the centre for music dance and other forms of art was found in 1951. It was born out of the passion and dedication of a new individuals- Sri Nirmal.Sarkar, his wife Smt. Anjali Sarkar, Sri Durga Sen and Sri Adhir Bagchi.

Sri Jayanta Sarkar,the deserving son of Sri Nirmal Sarkar and Smt Anjali Sarkar took up the baton from his father in 1974.
Lalitkala is now based in south Kolkata with a student strength of nearly 1500,including students from outside the state and abroad.
Over 50 students are recipients of National Scholarship for Classical Vocal.

We wish to introduce ourselves, LALITKALA- Music & dance institution, as one of the premiere music & dance school of Kolkata working in the field of art & culture for the last seventy- two years. The mission & vision of Lalitkala is to motivate and encourage their students to enrich in Indian Classical Music & dance. Beautifully quoted by Swami Vivekananda- “Music is the highest art and to those who understand, is the highest worship.” Thus Lalitkala strongly believes that music is not only a subject but it can be a way of life if anyone can pursue it seriously. We worked tirelessly to bring out that talent from our children.
